Dr David Watson is a former lecturer at UWA and Curtin University. During the 1980s, he undertook three consultancies for the World Health Organisation, on maternal and child health in China, the Philippines and Fiji. He accepted an offer from the Chinese University in Hong Kong to set up a department of Family Medicine and to be its inaugural Professor. He was also a visiting Professor in China, England, the Philippines, Taiwan and was granted an Emeritus Professor by Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou.
Dr Watson has worked as the Regional Medical Officer in Aboriginal communities in East Arnhem Land, Queensland and Kalgoorlie. He has carried out research in primary health care areas, from which he has published more than 90 papers. He is the author of two books, "Gypsy Doctor" and "Health Care for Remote Communities. A Solution by Satellite?"
